This summer is the time to reconnect to our earth community, celebrate nature’s abundance and the magic of Cherokee Park.Roots Camp mostly happens in the woods, allowing us freedom to develop our Nature Awareness skills. Our activities are centered on Nature Awareness, Ancestral Skills, Appalachian Folk Wisdom, and Plant Lore and Magic.
Our earth skill adventures will root us into our region, our community and ourselves. We will tune into our bioregion by remembering ways to communicate with what is around us. As we meet some of our plant allies we will learn how we can approach them as food, medicine and wise teachers. We will focus on ancestral crafts like basketry, natural paints, cordage and clay vessels. Through ceremony, craft, song, new skills, and games Roots Camp will tap us into local traditions and wisdom. Led by Lena Eastes of EarthPath Education. Register here.

NURTURING GRACE ~ A camp for girls who are transitioning to womanhood. At Shine, we are devoted to nurturing a graceful life - and what better time to create your graceful life than as you cross the threshold into womanhood!
We will experience movement - Yoga, Hooping and Nia, including the Martial Arts of T'ai Chi, Tae Kwon Do and Aikido, to increase body awareness and comfort with changing bodies. We will also discuss the media portrayal of young girls & women and how that may affect us.
We will experience journaling, visual art & music, including song-writing, to offer an expressive outlet for the emotional transitions that young girls often experience as they journey the path to womanhood.
We will experience food, and how food can be good medicine! We will learn about whole foods, juicing, herbal teas that are beneficial, essential oils & CHOCOLATE!!!
We will experience community, and how a circle of women is a powerful support at any age.
